Dr. Tom McCawley has practiced in Fort Lauderdale for over 50 years. A graduate of the University of Illinois College Of Dentistry, Dr. McCawley holds a specialty degree in Periodontics from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry and is one of seven dentists appointed to the Florida State Board of Dentistry whose mission is to protect the public.
Dr. McCawley lectures frequently to universities and dental groups throughout the country and internationally on “Periodontics for the 21 Century – The Latest Advances in microbiology and the appropriate use of antibiotics.”
He has presented new groundbreaking research on laser effects on bacteria to the American Academy of Dental Research, the American Academy of Periodontology and the North American Society of Periodontists. Drs. Tom and Mark McCawley recently co-authored four new studies on Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP®) including a groundbreaking study proving that the laser killed the disease causing bacteria in infected pockets. These studies make them among the leading researchers in the world on minimally invasive laser periodontal treatment He is he is Co-editor of the Periodontal Letter with 5000 in circulation.
He has written four books. Two on oral health and disease and two on life management.
